Helminthic diseases

Helminthes are worm like parasites that survive by feeding on a living host to gain nourishment and protection. These worms can cause diseases in different type of organisms. All helminthes are invertebrates with long, flat or round bodies.

Some of the common disease causing  helminthes are Ascaris, Hookworm, Pinworm  and Whipworm. These worms are called as soil transmitted helminthes. Some of the common diseases caused by these worms are Filariasis(Elephentiasis), Ascariasis, Schistostomiasis, Cysticercosis etc.
